When painting goes wild

When painting goes wild

Today is about some characters’ portraits for Battlefleet Gothic: Leviathan and some Work In Progress.

When you work on an IP in the universe of Warhammer 40K and look back to all of the illustrations made during these years by the greatest ones… there is only one thing you can do if you want to keep it’s unique style and atmosphere.

And this is traditional painting.

We wanted to stay close to the original material of the IP. To get back to the feeling you got when you opened a Games Workshop book. More than 15 characters were done for Battlefleet Gothic: Leviathan. All made with pencils, brushes, chinese ink, acrylic ‘Skull White’ (cause yeah, we use Games Workshop paints too) even the super cool DINOtoothbrush!

Portraits took about 1 day to 2 days of work. The most difficult part was: « not messing too many times ».

And sometimes we got it right.
